Wedding Day Tips
Here are some tips from our many years of experience capturing weddings, hope these tips will assist you in planning your day!
PLANNING
Before the day, it would be best if you can prepare a "bridal emergency kit", which can consist of:
- Bottle of water, small granola bar to get through the day
- Bobby pins
- Lip stick
- Tissue for the tears
- Band aids
It's best to have the emergency kit ready early if you plan to have one, your bridesmaids can definitely help with this!
Please have a spare pair of flat/comfy shoes ready to get around on the day, it's for emergency when walking in high heels for 10+hrs straight is too much.
When going to location photoshoot, your expensive bridal shoes can be scratched so it's better to have alternatives.
If the Bride and Groom plan to wear your glasses on the day it would be very good if you can get reflective specs for them. We and the guests can see your beautiful eyes in all the photos and you can also use them after the wedding. It's a bit of an effort but cost wise it is relatively cheap compare to the rest of the spending you already have for the big day.
GETTING READY
Can we kindly ask if you can get your make up and hair done before the photographers arrive? This will allow us enough time to take your stunning bridal portraits, reading letters, exchanging gifts and family photos with the bride before the tea ceremony or leaving for the wedding ceremony.
Some make up artists like to take their time and sometimes we need to wait around for 1-1.5 hrs before we can actually take any photos. Its fine by us too but we won't have enough time for any of your stunning bridal portraits before you walk down the aisle.
If possible, please do your make up in a different room besides the bridal room or main tea ceremony room, that way it will take less time to clean up and get ready for the portraits shots/start of tea ceremony.
If you can prepare a clean corner or room with good natural light for bridal portraits that would be so great!
Please prepare wedding dress (unbox and hang up with a wooden hanger), shoes and jewellery in 1 place.
If you are getting ready in the CBD, please let us know of any available parkings you would have for us :-)
DURING THE CHURCH/CIVIL CEREMONY
On the day people will tend to rush the Bride and Groom so events can run on time, if you are feeling too much of a pressure it is OK to tell everyone not to rush the bride.
During Wedding Processional at the beginning of Church/Civil Ceremony, please take your time and walk in slowly, it is your most beautiful moment and everyone will wait for the bride.
If you decided to have your hair Side Swept for the Civil can you tell the Celebrant/Priest to let you stand on the side where guests can see your face and not on the side where guests can only see your hair? Photographers can definitely assist with this, we can advise you to stand on the side where lighting on the Bride is soft, for the Groom a bit of harsher light is ok but it would be best if the Bride stand on the side with the softest light.
During the exchanges of vows, please tell your DJ/ Choir to stop playing music since it is very distracting for the guests and it also affect the sound quality of the video.
IMMEDIATE FAMILY PHOTOS
After the wedding ceremony, we would love to have these photos taken first with family members, so it would be amazing to have them around:
- Big group photos with everyone, parents, grandparents next to bride and groom
- Bride and groom and the bride's parents
- Bride and groom and the bride's immediate family
- Bride and groom and the groom's parents
- Bride and groom and the groom's immediate family
- Bride and groom and the in-laws together
EXTENDED FAMILIES AND GUEST PHOTOS
If possible, it would be better to have a person in charge of calling out each family to come up and take photos with the bride and groom.
GUEST PAPARAZZIS
Family photographers are welcome to take photos of the lovely bride and groom but please do so after the photographers, if you can inform guests not to block our cameras with their Ipads and phones during key moments (such as walking in, exchanging of the rings, the first kiss and the walking out) that would be so great! :-)
RECEPTION
For wedding booking of more than 10hrs can we please ask for crew meals to be provided and a place to sit down for our crew, most of the venues will have allocated crew table but if you can arrange our seatings with the venue that would be so great!
During the first dance, if you forget your move mid-way don't stress out, just carry on and enjoy the moment!
If there is any surprise performances for the bride/groom, please keep a secret from each other but please definitely let us know so we can capture everything for you!
WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR PHOTOS AND VIDEO
After the wedding, we will send you a link to your online gallery with both photos and video. Can we please ask if you download the photos and video to your computer and back up to your Google Drive so you have access to them forever?
THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP OF ALL
Enjoy your wedding day to the fullest and have fun!
